    Speaker: Phillip George

Phillip George, CAPM, is a Project Manager/Business Analyst at RefineM.  He received his Master of Science in Project Management in 2013, with a thesis on exploring effective communication models for virtual teams. He is also a former Board member of the PMI Southwest Missouri chapter.

Topic: Nonviolent Communication in Project Management.

Nonviolent Communication (NVC) is defined by its creator, Dr. Marshall Rosenberg, as a communication model emphasizing empathetic listening and honest expression of needs through a four-step process of observations, feelings, needs, and requests. The Nonviolent Communication model has applications not only in psychotherapy but also in organizational and business management, as well as project management.  In this presentation, the basics of Nonviolent Communication, as well as potential application to Project Management and Agile contexts, will be discussed. The objective is for attendees to walk away with a greater knowledge of the NVC model and how it can be applied to their own project teams.
