Your Chance to Help this Chapter Grow!

As a non-profit organization, PMI relies on volunteers to spread project management best practices, engage professionals in project management and related disciplines and offer networking opportunities at the local level.

Your help is needed as a volunteer for the PMI Southwest Missouri Chapter. If there is something you think would help our chapter fulfill our mission statement of “bringing project management professional development and networking opportunities to Southwest Missouri,” just let us know.  If you want to help, but don’t have a specific idea in mind, we came up with a few to help you find your place in our organization.

  • Career Center Coordinator - job networking planner
  • Volunteer Coordinator - maintain volunteer registry
  • Membership Retention Coordinator - assist with member retention
  • Sponsor Liaison - recruit chapter sponsorships
  • PMI Educational Foundation Liaison - represent the PMI EF in the chapter (click here for more details)
  • Joplin Area Community Coordinator - coordinate monthly meeting locations in Joplin
  • Branson Area Community Coordinator - coordinate monthly meeting locations in Branson
  • Speaker Liaison - maintain speaker registry and work with VP Programs to engage speakers for meetings and events
  • Vendor Coordinator - recruit vendors to display at meetings and events or on website
  • Certification Prep Coordinator - project manager for annual certification prep course
  • Workshop Coordinator - project manager for semi-annual  half-day workshops
  • Professional Development Days Coordinator - project manager for annual professional development day

Let us know via email (members@pmiswmo.org) if you are interested in one of the positions or have an idea where you can help that is not listed above.

Assisting Joplin Recovery through Convoy of Hope

The Convoy of Hope will take volunteer teams to help with response to the tornado disaster in Joplin, MO.  Given that Joplin is in the PMI SWMO region, I see an opportunity for those of who can and are willing to assist in the clean up or support effort.

A disaster response team for the Convoy of Hope is described as “a church and/or a group of individuals that are interested in becoming more involved in any or all aspects of disaster response, such as mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery. Areas of service may include the following: debris removal, bulk distribution, volunteer support, and church/ family preparedness.” If you are willing to participate in a team to go to Joplin in the next few weeks, please email juanita@pmiswmo.org with your contact information.

I would also like a point of contact to be identified to lead our team.  This POC will be identified as a volunteer for PMI SWMO and given opportunity to earn PDUs under Category E.  Please also email me if you are interested in being the POC.

Thank you and I look forward to seeing how our chapter can help our community and fellow members in this manner.
